The best essay

His hands trembled as he place the receiver. ''Not , it cannot be true,'' he thought. He could not believe what he had just heard. Not even in his wildest dream did Rezza think that he would lose his only best friend forever. More than that, he also lost the only girl that he loves so much before he could confessed his undying love. He was attending a seminar in Bali when he got word that Jasmine had passed away after suffered for five months due to brain cancer. Jasmine's family beseeched him back to Malaysia.
Jasmine. Thinking about her gone forever made Rezza felt that he had lost a part of his life. He cannot imagined the days that he had to face without her. Jasmine was the reason he strived to live. Jasmine was the one who gave supports and courages, making him felt brave and confidence to encounter all the challenges ahead. And Jasmine was also a true friend, very loyal by his side, always ready to share his ups and down in life. But now, she was gone. Forever. Leaving him alone. Even worst, it hurt him so much when he does not have a clue about Jasmine's illness. She never told him about her brain cancer, neither did showed it when thry were together.
He hastened and caught the next flight home. Sitting beside the window, he looked out, viewing and white coulds and blue sky. The memories of Jasmine and him cameflashed to his mind. He will never forget the day when he met Jasmine. Twelve years ago, on a bright, hot afternoon, Rezza ran as fast as he could towards his class. Being late that day as he had overslept, he was not aware of a beautiful girl standing in his way. Before he could stop himself, he had felt over that girl, his face facing hers, he could heard her fast breathing.
''I'm sorry.'' Stammered Rezza. He immediately got up, stretching his hand out to help the girl getting up. He did not dare to look at her face.
''It's okay.'' Jasmine took Rezza's hand. She was smiling broadly, showing that she was not mad with Rezza.
Rezza had slowly. He cannot believe that he had bumped with the most gorgeous girl in his school, Jasmine Umairah. He just cannot believe his faith, but then it was just a small collosion.
         ''I'm Jasmine.''
         ''I.....I.....''
''Rezza. Nice to meet you.'' Jasmine said after looking at his nametag. Rezza's face slowly turn scarlet. He was blushing like mad.
Since that day, he and Jasmine became friends and was closed from day to day. Each day was filled with joy and laughter after Jasmine came into Rezza's life. Spending time with her was the moment that Rezza treasured so much. Everyday, they will do something together. Something that made their heart became fond of each other. Something that made they knew the meaning of friendship and true love.
''Rezza, I hope that we could be together, forever.'' One day Jasmine confessed her inner feelings. She was hoping that Rezza could understand what she meant just now. It took her all the courage to say these words even though the sentence could mean anything.
''Yes. Friends forever.'' Replied Rezza. He was afraid then if he misunderstood Jasmine. He too was dying that Jasmine knew about his feelings towards her. But he feared that if it was only him that felt that way, it will broken their long friendship.
Jasmine was silenced after that. Not even a word she uttered at the rest of the day. And Rezza knew well, there will never be a second chance. After that incident, they tried to express their love towards each other but failed. They just do not know how to further their relationship to a more intimate way. The negative thought that the three words, ''I love you'' will ruined their friendship made them afraid and became coward.
''Sir. We have arrived.'' Said stewardess. Rezza and struck from his memories. Everything became clear. Now that he had arrived, his heart was beating very fast. He received a message from Jasmine's eldest brother, Johan that the funeral will be held in an our . He hoped that Rezza will arrived as soon as possible.
Rezza jumped into a taxi and urged the driver to drive as fast as he could. Within ten minutes, they had arrived in front of a big bungalow. Even though the house was beautiful, surrounded by beautiful scenery with various types of flowers planted in its garden, it appeared gloomy from the usual days. There were lots of people came to pay their respect. From a far, he can saw people crying and comforting each other. Pride rose inside him, as he felt proud to love someone who had made many friends during her lifetime.
''Rezza. Thank God. Come on. She's inside.'' Juliana, Jasmine's sister ushered him inside. There were people reciting the Holy Quran and Yaasin. At the middle of the living hall, lying lifelessly was Jasmine. Tears prickled in his eyes. For the first time, as a man, Rezza cannot hold his tears. He was crying over the death of his best friend.
He approached Jasmine's body. He admired Jasmine's soft feature. It was pale. Her eyes closed tightly. Rezza longing to see her hazel eyes, the genes inherited from her mother. But despite all that, her lips was smiling. The smile that Rezza always thought the cutest in the whole world. He smiled a little, knowing that even after her death, Jasmine will never allowed Rezza to see her upset.
Slowly, Rezza reached for Jasmine's hands, kissing her cold hand lovingly before gently putting it back. Her soft skin touching his made Rezza felt more and more regret. Regretting the past. The past that he chose to keep silenced of his feelings towards Jasmine.
At the funeral, Rezza stood bravely, witnessing the fateful event. Jasmine was laid to rest at a Muslim cemetery nearby her house. Rain fell drizzly onto the Earth. It seems that the world was also grieving upon Jasmine's death. For a moment, the time seems to stop, allowing Rezza to gaze at Jasmine's grave until Juliana came and urged him away.
             ''She's gone now. Forever.''
Back at Jasmine's house, Rezza could not hold his desire to go to Jasmine's room. He wanted to treasure everything that she had left behind. A big picture of Jasmine and him taken several years ago was hanging on the wall. Both of them was smiling broadly without knowing that they will be separated by death one day. Suddenly, his view felt upon a bright pink thick book on a bedside table. The word ''My Diary'' was clearly written on it. Curious, Rezza took the diary and scrutinized it. He opened the first page and saw his name written with a love symbol drew....around it. Then he turned to the other page and read with curiosity yet revealing something that succeed to make him utterly surprised.
In the diary was all about her feelings towards him. She expressed her love by writing it in her diary. There were no doubt that Jasmine felt the same way like Rezza. She too was also madly in love with Rezza. But the problem was, she could not told Rezza about her emotion. She feared that Rezza might wanted to break their relationship if she ever told him the truth. To ruin the long relationship between them was the last thing Jasmine ever wanted. She was willing to sacrify everything rather than losing Rezza.
On the last few page of the diary, dated three days before her death, Jasmine had written about how her life had changed since she met Rezza. She also wrote that she knew so well that her time had come. The time for her to leave everything and anything that belongs to her. The time to leave her loved ones. It was not just a time. It was also the time when she, as a Muslim will have to face her creator and began a new phase.
''No!'' He cried. His tears fell onto his cheek for the umpteenth time.
             ''No!''
What made Rezza felt worst was the last paragraph written by Jasmine. The ink had blurred as drops af tears made the paper appeared blotchy. Obviously that Jasmine was crying hard when writing her final feelings.
''Sometimes people searched for years to find their soul mate, their true love in life. But i don't need to as i have found mine. He don't an ordinary guy, he is perfect in my eyes. He is the one who truly understands me. He is also the one who will always be there when i really need someone. And he is my best friends The best friend i ever have. The best guys i ever loved. I know my time has come. I know he will be devastated upon my absence. But i hope he would not give up in continuing his life. Life must go on, right? So, dear God, on this beautiful night, I pray to you. I pray for my true love to find his soul mate. I pray for my best friends to find his new friend. I pray for him to be brave to face everything ahead. So, dear Lord, please hear for my humble prayer because only to you that I worship.
p/s: ''Rezza Mukhriz, I love you!''
Rezza closed the diary with one thousand one emotions. His heart felt relieved upon knowing the truth but regret as Jasmine and he was too afraid to tell their true feelings. Afraid of ruining their relationship had made them became more and more coward until finally the truth was laid being untold. Rezza wiped his tears away, taking the diary with him, he gave a final look at the photo of Jasmine and him. He smiled before leaving the room forever. He knew he would not forget Jasmine Umairah as the memories will always folded nicely in his hearth. And he will always remembered her as a charming angel of his. Al-Fatihah
